In the age of Donald Trump, or perhaps more accurately, in the age without Hillary Clinton we have seen the United States in the midst of a slump with regard to gun sales due to many people no longer worried that stockpiling for a potential future gun grab is an immediate threat. However, sometimes there are people that go against the grain of society and love guns so much that it doesn’t matter who is in charge, they’re going to get guns anyway. They are called Idahoans.
Across the United States as a whole, gun sales are down a staggering 11 percent from where they were last year at this time. In fact, only 20 states saw an increase in background checks last month, and 15 of those states only saw an increase of fewer than 1,000 checks.
Idaho, on the other hand, saw 15,000 background checks in September, up 18 percent from 2016 and up 12 percent from August’s numbers. Full sales for the state in September 2017 are estimated in the 9,000 firearms range.
But what could be the reason for this anomaly of a gun seller’s paradise? Two words. Constitutional Carry. Back in July, Permitless otherwise known as Constitutional Carry was signed into law by Governor Otter and the increase in background checks and firearms purchases was immediate. Where there were 15,000 checks in September, July saw even more with 20,000. This just goes to show that Constitutional Carry gets the public out and buying guns, giving gun stores more funds to buy more guns and creating the great circle of life.
We at Concealed Carry Inc. are very happy to see the increased enthusiasm across the state of Idaho and are happy to be a part of making sure the gem state’s throngs of new gun owners are properly trained and ready to go out and defend themselves and their families, joining our family of Guardians in the process.
