About the CCW Class:

This course covers basic firearm safety, legal foundations of the right of personal protection, loading and unloading, basic stance and grip, basic marksmanship, and other topics meeting the training requirement needed to apply for the Idaho Concealed Carry permit.

With Constitutional Carry now being recognized in Idaho, we saw a need for a class that covered the basics of firearms safety, concealed carry practices, an overview of the right of self defense, and understanding of the laws that do apply, permit or not, related to the use of deadly force.  We decided to offer this basic course that can stand on its own for those just wanting a basic introduction to firearms and concealed carry, but that can also be used as a foundation for obtaining a concealed firearms permit if recognition in other states is desired. 

Idaho offers two concealed carry permits.  The basic has some recognition by other states (around 22) and the Enhanced is now the most recognized permit in the country covering at least 36 states and that class also meets the requirements for the Oregon permit if you want to apply for it.  This course alone provides the training needed for the basic permit.  It is also the first half of the 8 hour course required for the Idaho Enhanced Concealed Weapons Permit. If you decide to go on and get the full training you pay a reduced rate for the final 8 hours which includes the full legal class and live fire on the range.

You will need a functioning pistol and 100 rounds of ammunition for each student. Safety eye and ear wear along with adequate clothing. Paper and pencil/pen for taking notes and a sack lunch. More detailed information will be provided after you register.

When will you receive the class address:

After your registration is complete you will receive an email with your receipt and all the class attendance information. This course is taught at the Unifed Sportsmen Club appx 7 miles East of Rexburg. Please note walk-ins are not permitted. We require pre-registration.

How Do I Apply for the Permit After the Class?

After the class you will walk out with a class completion certificate signed by the instructor. From there all you have to do is present that certificate in person at your county sheriff’s office. Don’t worry we’ll give you detailed instructions and make sure you are prepared before you leave the class.
